ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis' women's basketball team capped a perfect 14-0 regular season home record with an 86-67 win over Maryville on Saturday afternoon.
Jessica Kelliher (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North) scored a career-high 42 points and was one point shy of the school single game scoring record while
Rachel Hinders (Johnston, Iowa/Johnston) added 21 points.
Kelliher set a Lewis single game record with her 19 field goals made while her 27 field goal attempts are tied for second most in a single game in school history. Hinders finished the game hitting seven of nine field goals and was six for six at the foul line.
The Flyers, ranked 11th in this week's D2SIDA Media Poll and 16th in the WBCA Coaches Poll, improve to 22-2 overall and 13-1 in the GLVC play while the Saints drop to 16-8, 10-5 in league play.
Kelliher also grabbed 17 rebounds in the contest for her ninth double-double of the season and 33rd in her career.
Stephanie Hart (Geneva, Ill./Geneva) finished with nine points while
Kaitlyn Williams (Homer Glen, Ill./Joliet Catholic) added seven points.
Tierney Lockett (Richton Park, Ill./Rich South) had four points and six assists and
Gabby Green (Milwaukee, Wis./Pius XI) had three points, three assists and three steals.
Lewis finished the game shooting 52 percent (33-for-64) from the field, was 4-of-13 from three and shot 80 percent at the foul line. It outrebounded Maryville 51-to-32 and had 10 blocked shots in the contest.
The Saints were held to 34 percent shooting (28-for-83) in the contest and was 7-of-21 from three and shot 80 percent at the foul line. Abby Monis led three Maryville players in double figures with 18 points while Mary Barton and Jayda Jansen finished with 10 points each.
The Flyers return to action next Thursday traveling to Evansville, Ind., to begin a four-game road trip against Southern Indiana at 5:30 p.m.
