QUINCY, Ill. – The 10th ranked Lewis men's volleyball team made it two in a row sweeping Quincy (25-18, 25-20, 25-14) on Saturday (Feb. 9) evening in at Quincy. The Flyers improve to 9-4 overall and 2-0 in MIVA action while the Hawks fall to 4-8, 0-2 MIVA.

Lewis outhit Quincy in the match .338 to .331. Ryan Coenen (Franklin, WI/Franklin) led the Flyers with nine kills while TJ Murray (Barrington, IL/Barrington HS) added eight and Tyler Mitchem (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook HS) finished with seven kills. Matt Yoshimoto (Ventura, CA/Adolfo Camarillo) had 29 assists, nine digs and four service aces.

The opening set was even at 16 when Lewis broke away scoring nine of the final 11 points to take the set 25-18. Kyle Bugee (Cupertino, CA/Homestead) had five aces in the run while Coenen had two digs. Coenen had four of his nine kills in the frame.

The second set was even at 17 when Lewis made another late run to pull away. The Flyers scored four points in a row to grab command but the Hawks cut the deficit to 21-19 on a pair of Lewis miscues. However, the Flyers scored four of the final five points to take the set 25-20.

The third stanza was all Lewis as it raced out to an early seven point lead and never let Quincy get closer than five points the rest of the set. The Flyers hit .370 in the final frame with Coenen and Murray teaming up for eight of the team's 13 kills in the set.

Lewis is back at home on Friday (Feb. 15) hosting Ball State at 7 p.m. Friday's match is White-Out Night At Neil Carey Arena.
