Flyers Drop GLIAC Contest To Concordia-St. Paul

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis' women's lacrosse team matched a program record with eight goals but fell to Concordia-St. Paul, 17-8 on Friday at Lewis Stadium. Alyson Jines (Temecula, CA/Temecula Valley High School) led the Flyers (1-4, 1-3 GLIAC) with four goals while Scarlett Kellner finished with two.

Lewis broke on top 2:06 into the contest when Kellner scored her second goal of the season off an assist from Mackenzie Turner (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley). The Golden Bears (6-4, 3-2 GLIAC) tied the score 1:41 later on Margot Coomes sixth goal of the season.

The Flyers came right back 0:34 later as Jines scored her first goal of the contest with an assist from Turner.

CSP proceeded to score four goals in the span of 8:30 minutes to take a 5-2 lead.

Lewis got a goal back scoring with the man advantage with 11:20 in the half on Jines second goal of the game.

The Golden Bears scored five straight goals to build a 10-3 lead with 2:41 left in the half.

Jines scored with 1:23 left in the half to cut the lead to six but Maddie Hentges scored for CSP with less than a minute to play in the opening half to give the Golden Bears an 11-4 lead at halftime.

CSP scored two quick goals to begin the second half to extend its lead to 13-4. The lead remained at eight when the Flyers scored twice in the span of 1:40 on goals from Madeline Scherf (Waukesha, WI/Waukesha South High School) and Brittany Scharff (Geneva, ILL./Geneva High School). Both goals came with the man advantage. Scherf scored on a free position shot and Scharff scored with an assist from Scherf.

Kellner added Lewis' final tally with 9:14 to play on a free position shot with the man advantage.

Patricia Fotto (Pasadena, CA/La Salle High School) caused four turnovers and had seven ground ball pickups while Scherf caused two turnovers and picked up two ground balls.

The Flyers are back at home on Sunday hosting Northern Michigan at 12 p.m. at Lewis Stadium.
