INDIANAPOLIS – Lewis' women's lacrosse team opened Great Lake Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play on Tuesday as it traveled to Indianapolis to take on No. 12 Indianapolis at Key Stadium. The Greyhounds proved worthy of their ranking as they defeated the Flyers 24-1.
Lindsey Traub (Indianapolis, IN/Bishop Chatard High School) scored her third goal of the season for Lewis.
Indianapolis controlled the opening draw and scored on the first possession of game. The Greyhounds scored 10 times in the first 10 minutes and eventually took a 16-0 lead into halftime. Traub got the Flyers on the board on a free position shot with 6:22 remaining in the contest.
Katelyn Kuzmanko (West Olive, MI/West Ottawa High School) picked up five ground balls and had two Caused Turnovers while
Brittany Scharff (Geneva, ILL./Geneva High School) won four draw controls and picked up two ground balls. In the nets, starter
Elizabeth Baeder (Hampshire, ILL. /Hampshire High School) made four saves, while
Faith Engle (Marysville, OH/Marysville High School) came up with six stops.
The Flyers are next in action at home when they host Maryville this Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lewis Stadium.
