ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis' women's lacrosse team got off to a great start scoring the first goal of the game at No. 22 Grand Valley State on Thursday evening in Allendale, Mich. The Lakers proved worthy of their ranking in the contest to improve to 11-3 overall and 8-1 in the GLIAC while the Flyers dropped to 1-9 on the season, 1-8 in GLIAC play.
Alyson Jines (Temecula, CA/Temecula Valley High School) scored her team leading 17th goal of the season to put Lewis ahead less than 90 seconds into the contest but GVSU scored five goals in the span of four minutes to take the lead.
Jines led the way with three shots while
Mackenzie Turner (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) had two and
Nicole Carcerano (Woodridge, ILL./Downers Grove South High School) added one.
Lindsey Traub (Indianapolis, IN/Bishop Chatard High School) won four draw controls and
Faith Engle (Marysville, OH/Marysville High School) picked up seven ground balls.
Lewis concludes its four-game roadtrip on Saturday at Davenport beginning at 11 a.m. (CT) in Grand Rapids, Mich.
