ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis' women's lacrosse team dropped its 2019 home finale to McKendree on Wednesday evening at Lewis Stadium in Romeoville, Ill.
Alyson Jines (Temecula, CA/Temecula Valley High School) led the Flyers with nine shots and seven on goal while
Madeline Scherf (Waukesha, WI/Waukesha South High School) won five draw controls and
Lindsey Traub (Indianapolis, IN/Bishop Chatard High School) had four ground ball pickups.
The Bearcats (9-6, 8-3 GLIAC) raced out to the early lead scoring nine times in the first 15-plus minutes of the game. Lewis scored three straight goals in the span of 4:30 minutes to cut into the lead. Traub,
Mackenzie Turner (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) and Brittany Scharf had a goal apiece.
McKendree responded with a pair of goals extend its lead to eight but the Flyers came right back getting a goal from Jines to cut the lead to 11-4 on a free position shot.
The Bearcats scored the final four goals of the first half and all five goals in the second half.
Lewis (1-11, 1-10 GLIAC) wraps up its inaugural 2019 season on Sunday taking on Ashland at 12 p.m. (CST) in Ashland, Ohio.
