SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Lewis' women's tennis team opened its 2019 season at the UIS Tournament this past Friday and Saturday in Springfield, Ill.
Aleksandra Sredojevic (Belgrade, Serbia),
Joie Reisch (LaGrande Highlands, Ill./Lyons Township) and
Tereza Pilzova (Prague, Czech Republic) all competed in the A Flight Singles bracket.
Sredojevic won her opening match against Illinois Springfield's Kena Bere 6-2, 1-6, 10-5 and then lost to Missouri-St. Louis's Marina Prediger in the quarterfinals 6-2, 6-2.
Reisch won her opening match against Quincy's Makaela Hampton but then lost to UIS's Ashley Long 6-0, 6-0 in the quarterfinals.
Pilzova beat UIS's Neha Mokhasi 6-2, 6-1 in her first round match before falling to UIS's Maegan Flight in the quarters 4-6, 6-1, 3-10.
In the B Flight Singles Agnes Florcyzk lost to UIS's Lucy Pineiro 6-1, 6-1 then defeated Quincy's Sarah Luther 6-1, 6-0 in the back draw before being eliminated by UIS's Hannah Blythe in the back draw semifinals.
