Road Trip To Quincy, Truman State and Illinois Springfield On Tap For Women’s Basketball

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University's women's basketball looks to extend its four-game winning streak as it heads out on the road for three games in the span of five days beginning on Thursday at Quincy at 5:30 p.m. The road trip continues Saturday in Kirksville, Mo., against Truman State at 1 p.m. and wraps up with a visit to Springfield, Ill., on Monday evening to take on Illinois Springfield at 5:30 p.m.

Last Time Out – The Flyers won their fourth straight and improved to 5-0 in the GLVC with a 70-63 win over William Jewell last Saturday at Neil Carey Arena. Rachel Hinders (Johnston, Iowa/Johnston) led Lewis with 20 points and was joined in double figures by Kaitlyn Williams (Homer Glen, Ill./Joliet Catholic) with 19 while Alyssa Streeter (Chicago, Ill./Jones Prep) and Grace Hilber (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) finished with 11 and 10 points respectively.

Block Party – Morgan Glatczak (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) has recorded a blocked shot in nine of 12 games this season and has blocked multiple shots in a contest seven times this season. She blocked a career-high eight shots in Lewis' 75-66 win over Illinois Springfield back on Dec. 3, 2019. Glatczak had seven blocks apiece in the wins at Indianapolis (Jan. 2) and William Jewell (Jan. 11). She leads the GLVC in blocked shots with 3.17 per game.

Top 10 – Hinders ranks in the top 10 in the GLVC in four offensive categories. She's second in the league in free throw shooting at 93.7 percent, third in field goal percentage (62.1 percent), fourth in scoring with 18.6 points per contest and eighth in rebounding with 7.2 rebounds per game. Hinders has scored at least 20 points in five consecutive games.

Helping Hand – Stephanie Hart (Geneva, Ill./Geneva) and Dajae Black (Chicago, Ill./Marist) are ranked 10th and 11th respectively in the GLVC in assists per contest. Hart is averaging 3.54 assists per game while Black is at 3.46 assists per outing.

Scouting Quincy – The Hawks enter Thursday's contest with a record of 5-8 and are 1-4 in the GLVC after getting swept at home last weekend by Maryville 76-61 and Missouri S&T 91-76. Aleksandra Petrovic leads Quincy in scoring with an average of 12.7 points per game. She is joined in double figures by Laney Lantz who is averaging 10.3 points per outing. Ella Gobald leads the team in rebounding with 6.1 per contest. Petrovic also leads the Hawks in assists (27) and steals (22).

Series vs. Quincy – Quincy holds a 27-25 advantage in the series which dates back to 1976. However, Lewis has won four straight and seven of the last eight meetings. The Flyers won both meetings last season defeating the Hawks 91-39 at Neil Carey Arena and 101-64 at Quincy.

Scouting Truman State – The Bulldogs are 9-3 on the season and have won four straight heading into Thursday's contest against Illinois Springfield. Truman along with Drury and Lewis are the only remaining unbeaten teams in GLVC action heading into play this weekend. The Bulldogs have four players averaging double figures in scoring and are led by Sloane Totta with 12.1 points per outing. Hannah Belanger is averaging an even 12.0 points per contest while Katey Klucking and Katie Jaseckas are contributing 10.5 and 10.4 points per contest respectively. Maddie Re leads the team in rebounding with nearly 10 per outing while Totta leads the team with 62 assists.

Series vs. Truman State – Saturday's contest marks the 10th meeting all-time between the Flyers and Bulldogs with Lewis holding a 7-2 advantage. The Flyers had their six-game winning streak in the series snapped in the regular season finale last year in Kirksville. Lewis won the first meeting last season 86-56 at Neil Carey Arena.

Scouting Illinois Springfield – The Prairie Stars enter play this weekend with a mark of 6-7 and are 1-4 in the GLVC. In their last outing the Stars were defeated at home by Rockhurst 75-68. Lauren Ladowski and Tehya Fortune lead UIS in scoring with 15.4 and 10.4 points per game respectively. Katelyn Rosner is pulling down 6.0 rebounds per contest while Ladowski has dished out a team-high 43 assists.

Series vs. Illinois Springfield – The Flyers have won 14 of the first 15 meetings in the series against the Prairie Stars including 10 in a row. Lewis defeated UIS 75-66 back on Dec. 3 at Neil Carey Arena. Reilly Olmstead (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) scored a career-high 23 points in the contest.

Up Next – The Flyers return home next Thursday to take on GLVC newcomer Lindenwood with tip-off at 5:30 p.m. It'll be the start of a four-game homestand for Lewis which continues next Saturday against Missouri-St. Louis at 1 p.m. Next Saturday's contest is Alumni Day at Neil Carey Arena and the second class of the Lewis Academy of Coaches will be inducted at halftime of the men's game.
