CHICAGO, Ill. – The Lewis University women's tennis team opened its spring season with a 9-0 loss at the No. 8 University of Chicago on Saturday (Jan. 25). The Flyers are 1-2 on the season while the Maroon are 1-0.
In doubles action, Alek Sredojevic and
Joie Reisch (LaGrande Highlands, Ill./Lyons Township) lost to Perene Wang and Claudia Ng 8-1 at No. 1 doubles, in No. 2 doubles
Tereza Pilzova (Prague, Czech Republic/) and
Sophie Davis (Mokena, Ill./Providence Catholic) dropped an 8-4 decision to Lauren Park and Catherine Xu. In No. 3 doubles action it was Eugenia Lee and Brigitte Wu defeating
Jovana Vujanic () and
Agnes Florcyzk () 8-2.
In singles play, Sredojevic lost to Park 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, At No. 2 singles Pilzova lost a straight sets decision to Xu 6-4, 7-5. Reisch lost to Nicole Semenov 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. Vujanic was defeated by Ng 6-2, 6-1 in No. 4 singles action. At No. 5 singles Davis was defeated by Wang 6-0, 6-1 and at No. 6 singles Florcyzk lost to Amanda Sharng 6-1, 6-1.
Lewis returns to the courts on Friday (Feb. 7) taking on Walsh University in Canton, Ohio beginning at 6 p.m. (CST).
