NORTH CANTON, Ohio – Lewis' women's tennis team fell to Walsh 7-0 on Friday (Feb. 8) in a nonconference match at the North Canton Racquet Club in North Canton, Ohio.
With the loss the Flyers fall to 1-3 on the year, while the Cavaliers move to 3-0.
The lone win on the evening for Lewis came from the No. 1 doubles team of
Aleksandra Sredojevic (Belgrade, Serbia/) and
Joie Reisch (LaGrande Highlands, Ill./Lyons Township) who teamed to beat Mercedes Fernandez and Nicole Beidacki 6-4. The other doubles team of
Tereza Pilzova (Prague, Czech Republic/) and
Sophie Davis (Mokena, Ill./Providence Catholic) lost to Katharina Razum and Maria Kacalova 4-6 at No. 2 doubles while the No. 3 doubles team of
Agnes Florcyzk () and
Jovana Vujanic () lost to Clara Drasch and Parvanee Karimpour 3-6.
In singles, Sredojevic fell to Fernandez 3-6, 3-6 at No. 1 singles. At No. 2 singles Pilzova dropped a hard fought match to Razum in three sets. Razum took the opening set 7-5 but Pilzova won set two 6-2 to force a third set. Razum won in a tie break 7-3 to win the third set 7-6.
Reisch dropped a 3-6, 1-6 decision to Drasch at No. 3 singles. At No. 4 singles Vujanic fell to Kacalova 3-6, 4-6. Davis was defeated by Beidacki 3-6, 2-6 at No. 5 singles and Florcyzk was defeated by Sofia Khairutdinova 2-6, 2-6 at No. 6 singles.
The Flyers return to the courts on Saturday (Feb. 8) taking on Findlay at 3 p.m. (CST) in Findlay, Ohio.
