MARQUETTE, Mich. – Lewis' women's lacrosse team couldn't overcome a slow start in its 15-4 loss at Northern Michigan on Friday evening in Marquette, Mich. The Flyers drop to 0-3 on the season while the Wildcats improve to 1-1.
NMU raced out to a 7-0 lead before Lewis got on the board with 13:12 remaining in the opening half on
Sarah Bradley's (Wye Mills, Md./Saints Peter and Paul) sixth goal of the year.
The Wildcats added two more goals to extend its lead to eight at halftime.
Bradley scored her second goal of the contest 0:47 into the second half but Northern Michigan responded with four straight goals to take its largest lead of the evening.
Skylar Lucich (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) and
Paige Bracey (Apex, N.C./Apex) had a goal apiece for the Flyers. For Lucich it was her fifth of the year while Bracey scored her first collegiate goal.
Bradley and
Alyson Jines (Temecula, CA/Temecula Valley High School) had six shots apiece to lead Lewis while
Lindsey Traub (Indianapolis, IN/Bishop Chatard High School) won five draw controls and picked up two ground balls.
Jamie Rieger (Park Ridge, Ill./Maine South),
Carlie Serritella (Chicago, Ill./Resurrection) and
Kate Quinlan (Butler, Pa./Butler Area) had two caused two turnovers apiece.
Faith Engle (Marysville, OH/Marysville High School) made six saves in goal.
Lewis travels to St. Paul, Minnesota on Sunday to take on Concordia-St. Paul at 12 p.m.
