ST. PAUL, Minn. – Skylar Lucich (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) scored a pair of goals but it wasn't enough in Lewis' women's lacrosse team's loss at Concordia-St. Paul on Sunday afternoon at the Concordia Dome in St. Paul, Minn. The Flyers drop to 0-4 while the Golden Bears improve to 4-0.
Lewis fell behind 5-0 before getting on the board with 20:25 left in the first half on an unassisted goal from Lucich.
CSP added four more goals to extend its lead to 9-1 but the Flyers countered with three straight of their own to cut the deficit to 9-4.
Paige Bracey (Apex, N.C./Apex),
Carlie Serritella (Chicago, Ill./Resurrection) and
Sarah Bradley (Wye Mills, Md./Saints Peter and Paul) each scored during that stretch.
The Golden bears added a goal with less than three minutes to play in the opening half to make it 10-4 but Lucich scored in the final 0:30 of the frame to cut the lead in half at halftime.
CSP dominated the second half outscoring Lewis 10-1.
Bradley led the Flyers with four shots on goal while Lucich added three.
Faith Engle (Marysville, OH/Marysville High School) picked up seven ground balls and
Lindsey Traub (Indianapolis, IN/Bishop Chatard High School) had four ground ball pickups. Traub won three draw controls and Serritella caused three turnovers. Engle made nine saves in goal.
Lewis opens its home schedule this Thursday (Feb. 27) hosting Oklahoma Baptist at 7 p.m. at Lewis Stadium.
