ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis' men's tennis team dropped a 4-2 decision at Findlay on Saturday evening at the YMCA East in Findlay, Ohio. The Flyers drop to 0-3 on the season while the Oilers improve to 1-4.
Lewis won two of the three doubles matches to take the first point of the contest.
Juan Martin Ramirez Meija () and
David Ambrozic (Portoroz, Slovenia/) defeated Jorge Barnuevo and Alredo Berlanga 6-3 at No. 1 doubles.
Oskar Lusti (Tallinn, Estonia/) and
Pedja Trifunovic (Aleksandrovac, Serbia) won at No. 2 doubles defeating Soh Kuyama and Mark Ivanov 6-3. At No. 3 doubles,
Jeremy Charles () and
Earl Lim () lost to Andrew Codita and Ivaylo Slavov 0-6.
On the singles side, Lusti won the opening set over Barnuveo 6-2 but lost the next two 6-7, 5-7 to lose in three at No. 1 singles. Ramirez Meija split the first two sets with Kuyama before winning the third set 6-4 to win in three sets at No. 2 singles. At No. 3 singles, Ambrozic lost to Berlanga 0-6, 6-4, 4-6 while Trifunovic lost in straight sets to Codita 1-6, 3-6 at No. 4 singles. Lim gel to Ivanov 0-6, 1-6 at No. 5 singles. The final match between Charles Brayden Doherty was not finished.
The Flyers return to the court on Friday (Feb. 14) hosting Wayne State (Mich.) at 11 a.m. at Five Star Tennis Center in Plainfield, Ill.
