ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Alyson Jines (Temecula, CA/Temecula Valley High School) and
Jamie Rieger (Park Ridge, Ill./Maine South) combined to score six goals for Lewis' women's lacrosse team but Davenport grabbed a big lead to defeat the Flyers 24-7 on Sunday afternoon at Lewis Stadium. Lewis stands at 1-5 while the Panthers are 4-1.
Davenport tallied five goals in the first five minutes to take control.
Sarah Bradley (Wye Mills, Md./Saints Peter and Paul) got the Flyers on the board with her 17th goals of the season with 21:43 left in the first half. The Panthers scored nine unanswered goals to take the commanding lead.
Rieger scored her first of the day at the 7:13 mark and Jines followed with a goal at the 2:44 mark. Davenport built a 17-3 lead at halftime.
The Panthers opened the second half with a goal before Jines scored the first of her three second half goals. Lewis took advantage of an extra attacker and Rieger scored to finish out the scoring.
Jines had 10 of the Flyers 18 shots in the game.
Carlie Serritella (Chicago, Ill./Resurrection) won four draw controls, Rieger picked up three ground balls and
Claire Moran (Plainfield, ILL./Benet Academy) caused three turnovers.
Lewis concludes its three-game homestand on Friday (March 6) taking on Felician at 12 p.m. at Lewis Stadium.
