ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis' women's lacrosse team defeated Felician 17-0 on Friday afternoon at Lewis Stadium for its first shutout in program history. The Flyers improve to 2-5 while the Golden Falcons fall to 0-1 on the year.
Lewis scored three goals in the first six-plus minutes.
Sarah Bradley (Wye Mills, Md./Saints Peter and Paul) scored the first goal and then
Paige Bracey (Apex, N.C./Apex) scored her fourth of the season and
Kate Quinlan (Butler, Pa./Butler Area) added her third of the year.
Bradley added three more goals in the opening half while Bracey added two more, and
Lindsey Traub (Indianapolis, IN/Bishop Chatard High School),
Carlie Serritella (Chicago, Ill./Resurrection) and
Jamie Rieger (Park Ridge, Ill./Maine South) added a goal apiece.
The Flyers outshot Felician 20-4 in the first half and put 17 of those on goal.
Bradley scored four more goals in the second half and was joined in the goal column by Rieger and
Claire Knight (Corona, Calif./Santiago).
Lewis finished the contest with a 28-6 advantage in shots, 22-15 in ground balls and 15-5 in caused turnovers.
Bradley tied the program record with eight goals in the contest and set a single-game record with 14 points scored.
Serritella won five draw controls and had three ground ball pickups.
Katelyn Kuzmanko (West Olive, MI/West Ottawa High School) also had three ground ball pickups. Knight, Quinlan, Kuzmanko and Serritella had two caused turnovers apiece.
Brigid Fornek (Lawrenceville, Ga./Grayson),
Faith Engle (Marysville, OH/Marysville High School) and
Elizabeth Baeder (Hampshire, ILL./Hampshire High School) combined to stop all six shots they faced for the shutout.
The Flyers are back in action on Tuesday (March 10) when they travel to North Carolina to take on Wingate at 3 p.m. (CST).
