ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Freshman
Nolan Dalep (Victoria, British Columbia, Canada/Claremont Secondary School) set a Lewis single game record with five goals and seven points in the Flyers 17-3 win over Felician on Friday afternoon at Lewis Stadium. Lewis is now 3-2 while the Golden Falcons drop to 0-5.
Dalep scored the first two goals of the contest in the span of 0:15 to give the Flyers an early lead.
Drew Andre (Pitt Meadows, British Columbia, Canada/Pitt Meadows Secondary School) and
Thomas Purfeerst (Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount) scored 0:24 apart with less than three minutes to play in the opening quarter to give Lewis a 4-0 lead at the end of the frame.
The Flyers extended their lead early in the second quarter scoring four times in the span of less than a minute.
Xan Brouillet (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) had two of those goals while
Cole Roth (Omaha, Neb./Millard West) and
Drew Kask (Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada/Dr. Charles Best Secondary School) added the other two.
Andre tallied his second of the game with less than 10 minutes to play in the half and then Dalep added his third of the game at the 7:46 mark to give Lewis a 10-0 lead at halftime.
Felician got on the board 3:17 into the third quarter on Robert Grasso's ninth of the season but the Flyers responded with four goals over the final 7:31 of the quarter to take a 14-1 lead into the final frame.
The two sides traded goals over the first 10 minutes of the fourth quarter and then Purfeerst added his third of the game with 1:17 left to cap the scoring.
Lewis took 42 shots in the contest and put 25 of those on goal. It recorded 43 ground balls, won 15 face-offs and caused six turnovers in the contest.
Dalep, Brouillet and Purfeerst combined to score 11 of the Flyers 17 goals in the contest. Roth, Kask and Andre added two goals apiece.
Peter Carlson (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South) with 15 face-offs and picked up 10 ground balls. Broulliet also had two caused turnovers.
Josh Calvin (Scottsdale, Ariz./Notre Dame College Prepatory HS) made four saves in goal to pick up his third win of the season.
The Flyers begin a three-road game trip on Tuesday (March 10) taking on Alderson Broaddus at 3 p.m. (CDT) in Philippi, W.V.
