ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis' women's cross country team opened its 2020 season with a third-place finish at the UIndy Triangular in Carmel, Ind., on Friday afternoon. The Flyers had two runners finish in the top 10 of the 5-kilometer race.
Caroline Pacer (Wheaton, Ill./West Chicago) was Lewis' top finisher in the race coming in fifth with a time of 19:39.1 and had a pace of 6:20.
Arianna Amill-Ramos (Bolingbrook, IL/Bolingbrook) was the number two runner finishing eighth in a time of 19:55.0 and had a pace of 6:25.
Abbey Kozak (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township),
Anna Kozak (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) and
Vanessa Peinado (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Hoffman Estates) finished 16th, 17th and 18th respectively with times of 20:25:6, 20:35.6 and 20:53.3.
Grace Schmucker (Fremont, Ind./Fremont) finished 22nd in the race with a time of 21:18.4 and
Camille Cabas (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) was two spots behind Schumcker finishing in 24th with a time of 21:29.
Southern Indiana won the team competition with 32 points and had four runners finish in the top 10. UIndy's Lauren Bailey won the 5K race by nearly a minute with a time of 17:07.1 and had a pace of 5:31.
The Flyers return to action on Saturday (Oct. 10) when they travel down to Illinois Springfield for the GLVC East Division race which begins at 3 p.m.
