CHARLESTON, Ill. – Lewis University's men's tennis team wrapped up its fall season at the EIU Hidden Duals hosted by Eastern Illinois University on Friday and Saturday (Oct. 1-2) at the Darling Courts in Charleston, Ill. The Flyers competed against Chicago State, Eastern Illinois and Illinois Springfield. Lewis went 6-6 in singles matches and 1-5 in doubles matches over the course of the weekend.
Friday's matches were played at Darling Courts while Saturday's matches were moved indoors due to weather.
Oskar Lusti (Tallinn, Estonia/) went 2-0 in his singles matches this weekend. He defeated Chicago State's Javier Pradillo 7-5, 7-6 (7-1) in his opening match on Friday afternoon and then on Saturday he defeated Eastern Illinois' Christos Kyrillou 8-6.
Oliwer Wierzbicki (Szczecin, Poland) went 2-1 over the course of the weekend. He defeated Chicago State's Jesus Perez Plaza 6-0 and 7-5 on Friday. He lost to Illinois Springfield's Zubin Omar 6-4, 7-5 in his first match on Saturday and then finished his weekend with a win over Eastern Illinois' Max Pilipovic-Kljajic 8-6.
Pedja Trifunovic (Aleksandrovac, Serbia/) split his two matches on the weekend. He lost his opening match to Chicago State's Pedro Alvarez 6-2, 6-1 on Friday and then on Saturday he beat Illinois Springfield's 7-5, 4-6, 13-11.
Juan Martin Ramirez Mejia (Medellin, Colombia/) finished 1-2 on the weekend. He lost his first match to Chicago State's Jakov Suler 7-6 (7-5), 6-4, he lost his second match to Illinois Springfield's Tomas Martinez 5-7, 6-4, 4-10 and finished his weekend with an 8-3 win over Eastern Illinois' Tyler Carlin.
Andrej Zoranovic (Ottawa, Ontario, Canda) went 0-2 during the weekend. He lost to Illinois Springfield's Matthew Lapsley 4-6, 3-6 and lost to Eastern Illinois' Ulrich 6-8 on Saturday afternoon.
In doubles action, Lusti and Trifunovic went 0-3 while Ramirez Mejia and Wierzbicki were 1-1 and Zoranovic was 0-1.
Lusti and Trifunovic lost to UIS' Martinez and Menno Servaes 6-3, they lost to Eastern Illinois' Kyrillou and Thomas Wallace 3-6 and lost to Chicago State's Suler and Plaza 5-7.
Ramirez Mejia and Wierzbicki lost to Illinois Springfield's Lapsley and Revin 7-6 (7-2) on Friday and then knocked of EIU's Carlin and Pau Riera 7-5 on Saturday.
Zoranovic teamed with Eastern Illinois' Ruslan Pultz on Friday and lost to UIS' Ivan Esguerra and Phillip Rydell 7-5.
