ROLLA, Mo. – Lewis University's women's soccer team dropped its regular season finale at Missouri S&T 1-0 at Allgood-Bailey Stadium on Sunday afternoon in Rolla, Mo. The Flyers finish the regular season with a record of 9-5-2, 7-5-2 GLVC and will be the seventh seed in the GLVC Tournament while the Miners improve to 8-5-3, 7-4-3 GLVC and will be the six seed in the conference tournament.

The game was scoreless for the first 45 minutes but Lewis had a 7-6 advantage in shots at halftime. S&T put four of their six shots on goal while the Flyers had two of their seven chances make it on goal.

The Miners had three chances in the first 20-plus minutes of the second half but Lucy Clark (Bristol, England) was there to stop all three. Lewis had chances to get on the board in the 63rd and 69th minute but were unable to get it past Kristin Steins.

S&T scored the only goal of the contest on an own goal with 16:52 remaining. A ball was played into the box and Clark came off her line to stop but it bounced past her and was headed for goal. A Flyer defender tried to save it off the line but her clearing attempt knocked the ball in the goal.

Lewis had a chance to tie the game 63 seconds later as Maddie Levins (Elmhurst, Ill./York) tried to head home a free kick from the right side of the box but her attempt missed wide. The Flyers had another chance in the final minute as Cali Havelka-Vanderplow (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale South) got loose down the left side of the pitch but her shot was wide left.

Lewis finished the contest with an 11-9 advantage in shots but the Miners had the edge in shots on goal 8-4 and in corner kicks 5-0. Havelka-Vanderplow led the Flyers with three shots while Miranda Nirchi (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield South) added two shots. Clark made seven saves in goal.

Lewis will travel to Springfield, Mo., next Sunday for the opening round of the GLVC Tournament where it'll take on Drury. Game time will be announced on Monday. The Panthers finished the regular season as the number two seed. The Flyers defeated Drury 1-0 on Oct. 22 at Lewis Stadium.
