ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University's men's basketball team heads to Motown on Wednesday (Nov. 17) for a midweek contest against Wayne State at 6 p.m. (CST) at the Wayne State Fieldhouse. It'll be the start of a three-game road trip for the Flyers.
Last Time Out – Lewis struggled to get its offense going last weekend as it was held to an average of 56.5 points per game in the two losses against Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech. The Flyers shot 36.4 percent from the floor, were just 8-of-28 (28.6 percent) and shot 56.3 percent at the foul line.
Connor Niego (Western Springs, Ill./Lyons Township) led Lewis in the two contests with 12.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game while
Deon Ejim (Toronto, Canda/TRC Academy) added 8.5 points per outing.
About Wayne State – The Warriors dropped their season opener to Ashland 59-50 this past Friday. The game was tied at 26-26 at halftime but the Eagles won the second half 33-24. Brailen Neely led all scorers with 21 points, while Avery Lewis notched a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Series Stuff – Outside of last season, when the GLVC played a conference-only slate, Lewis and Wayne State have played every season since 2009. The Flyers lead the all-time series with the Warriors 8-6 but Wayne State holds a 4-2 advantage on its home floor. The Warriors won the last meeting in 2019, 67-66, in Romeoville.
