ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University's men's basketball team hosts Indianapolis in its conference opener this Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. in Neil Carey Arena. It'll be a split weekend for the Flyers as they'll travel down to Lebanon, Ill., on Saturday afternoon to take on McKendree at 3 p.m.
Last Time Out – Lewis fell to 0-5 on the season after an 88-67 loss at Lake Superior State on Saturday afternoon. The Flyers got off to a slow start in the contest as it fell behind by 12 early and wouldn't get closer than eight points the rest of the contest.
Bruno Williams (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) led Lewis with 14 points while
Marquise Jackson (Macon, Ga./Windsor Academy) added 10 points off the bench.
About UIndy – The Greyhounds (4-2, 1-0 GLVC) won their third straight game defeating Southern Indiana 68-62 on Monday evening at Screaming Eagle Arena in Evansville, Ind. Cory Miller Jr. led the Hounds with 14 points and was joined in double figures by Jesse Bingham with 12 points while Kendrick Tchoua added 11 points and Dee Montgomery and Josiah Tynes added 10 points apiece.
Bingham is the team's leading scorer at 14.8 points per game while Tchoua and Miller Jr. are at 13 and 12 points per contest respectively. Tchoua is the team's leading rebounder at 6.3 boards per game while Miller Jr. has dished out a team best 24 assists.
About McKendree – The Bearcats improved to 4-0 on Monday evening defeating Illinois Springfield in a 51-47 contest in Springfield. Bryson Bultman led the Cats with 12 points while Carson Parker pulled down 11 rebounds.
Bultman and Parker lead the team in scoring at 14.5 and 11.5 points per game respectively. Parker is the team's leading rebounder at 7.3 rebounds per contest and Bultman is averaging 4.0 assists per game.
Series Stuff – Thursday's contest marks the 87th meeting all-time between Lewis and UIndy with the Flyers holding a 49-37 advantage in the series. Lewis won two of the three meetings last season picking up a 77-64 victory win in Indianapolis and a 73-57 win in the semifinals of the GLVC Tournament in St. Louis while the Greyhounds defeated Lewis 78-68 in Romeoville.
Saturday's game marks the 17th all-time meeting between the Flyers and McKendree with Lewis having 13 of the previous 16 matchups. Lewis won two of the three meetings a season ago splitting a two-game set last December with the Bearcats at Neil Carey Arena and then defeated McKendree 62-59 in Lebanon in the opening round of the GLVC Tournament.
