EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The No. 15 Lewis University women's cross country team placed fifth out of 30 teams Saturday (Nov. 6) at the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional at Angel Mounds, hosted by Southern Indiana.
The Flyers finished with 178 points, just three points behind fourth-place Saginaw Valley. The top three spots, who get automatic berths to nationals, went to Grand Valley State (40), Southern Indiana (110) and Cedarville (137).
Lewis is in a position to receive an at-large berth, but the official announcement will come Monday evening.
The Flyers received All-Region performances from
Kassady Learn (San Diego, Calif./Rancho Bernardo),
Anna Kozak (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) and
Stephanie Jarvis (Hortonville, Wis./Hortonville), as they all finished in the top 25. Learn clocked in at 21 minutes, 26.6 seconds to place 13
th, while Kozak placed 19
th with a time of 21:33.2 and Jarvis was 25
th with a time of 21:40.3.
Arianna Amill-Ramos (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) clocked in with a time of 22:10.6,
Naylah Allen (Oswego, Ill./Oswego East) had a time of 22:31.8,
Caroline Pacer (Wheaton, Ill./West Chicago) finished in 22:55.4 and
Josephine Bober (Lockport, Ill./Lockport) had a time of 23:07.5.
Jennifer Comastri of Southern Indiana won the race with a time of 20:24.5, while Alexa Leppelmeier of Walsh was second with a time of 20:42.5.
The National Championships will take place Nov. 20 at the Abbey Course in Saint Leo, Fla.
