PLAINFIELD, Ill. – Lewis University's women's tennis team fell to Ferris State 6-1 on Saturday evening at Five Star Tennis Center in Plainfield, Ill. The Flyers fall to 3-2 while the Bulldogs improve to 5-1.
The lone win of the evening for Lewis came at No. 1 singles as
Rita Pedroso (Porto, Portugal/Escola Secundaria Garcia de Orta) defeated Morgan Waller 7-6 (7-3), 6-1.
Casey Smith (Portage, Mich./Portage Central) lost to Sophie Savettila 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2,
Jovana Vujanic (Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove) fell to Agata Klak 6-3, 1-6, 1-6 at No. 3,
Joie Reisch (La Grange Highlands, Ill./Lyons Township) was defeated in three sets by Brittany Lavenant 2-6, 6-1, 3-6 at No. 4,
Grace Sueflohn (Delafield, Wis./KM Global Charter School) lost to Patricia Gomez 6-1, 4-6, 4-6 and
Sophie Davis (Mokena, Ill./Providence Catholic) fell to Sam Stephenson 6-0, 7-6 (7-4) at No. 6.
The Flyers No. 1 doubles team of Pedroso and Smith was defeated by Waller and Stephenson 6-2, Davis and Reisch lost to Davettila and Klak 6-0 at No. 2 doubles and Vujanic and
Agnes Florczyk (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg) fell to Lavenant and Gomez 6-3 at No. 3 doubles.
Lewis returns to the courts on Thursday (March 18) as they travel to Wheaton College for a dual beginning at 12:45 p.m.
