Lewis Men’s Soccer Draws With Quincy

QUINCY, Ill. – Lewis University's men's soccer team played to a 2-2 draw at Quincy on Friday evening at Jack McKenzie Field in Quincy, Ill. The Flyers are now 1-4-1 overall and in the GLVC while the Hawks are 3-3-1 overall and in the conference.

The first half was scoreless with each team registering three shots with Lewis putting two shots on goal while Quincy put one shot on target.

The Flyers broke the scoreless deadlock as Domenic Baumann (Bergheim, Germany/Brauweiler) scored in the 61st minute with an assist from Matthew Beaulieu (South Elgin, Ill./St. Charles North). It was Baumann's third straight game with a goal.

The Hawks scored twice in the span of 1:36 as Aubrey Reis tied the game with a goal on a penalty kick in the 62nd minute and he scored again in the 63rd minute with an assist from Cole Hayes.

Seth Dilworth (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West) tied the game in the 81st minute scoring an unassisted goal into the low center of the goal for his first collegiate goal.

Lewis had a chance to regain the lead in the 84th minute but Beaulieu's shot from the top of the penalty area was high.

Quincy also had a chance to score in the final five minutes but Joel McIIroy's shot from out top was also high.

Reis had another chance in the first overtime period, but his shot missed high.

The Hawks had another chance to win the game 1:27 into the second overtime but Jack Rhead's shot missed wide right.

The Flyers were outshot in the contest 14-9 but had the advantage in shots on goal 7-4. Bauman, Dilworth and Jimmy Mwanga (Dublin, Ireland/CBS Lucan) had two shots on goal apiece for Lewis. Will Maurice (Minooka, Ill./Minooka) made two saves in goal.

The Flyers are back in action on Sunday as they travel to Kirksville, Mo., to take on Truman State at 2:30 p.m.
