BELLEVILLE - The Lewis University women's bowling team competed in the inaugural Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament over the weekend at Bel Air Bowl. The Flyers entered the tournament as the No. 5 seed and went 0-2 overall in the Mega Match format.

The Flyers (22-26) opened play against No. 4 seed Drury on Friday (March 19), where they fell to the Panthers in both traditional and five-game baker play. In traditional play they fell 872-83,2 getting a 217 from
Kayla Dench (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield East)Â and a 197 fromÂ
Jenna Sussenbach (Naperville, Ill./Plainfield North). In baker play they lost 857-834, as game three (212-140 Panther advantage) was the difference in the match.

After getting a second round bye, Lewis came back Sunday morning to face No. 2 seed Maryville in an elimination match. The Saints would win traditional play 981-827 and baker play 916-833. Sussenbach's 201 led the Flyers in traditional play.

The Flyers now await their United States Bowling Congress postseason fate for the Intercollegiate Team Championships Sectionals. The top 64 teams qualify for the tournament on April 17-18 with the Flyers currently in 53
rd place in power points.
