ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University's second ranked women's volleyball team begins its quest for a GLVC Tournament Championship on Friday evening taking on eighth seeded Truman State at 9 p.m. at the EastSide Centre in East Peoria, Ill.
Fans will be allowed for Friday's evening contest but are limited to 200 per match. Tickets can be purchased 30 minutes before the start of each match and are first come, first served. Masking and social distancing will be required at all times inside the EastSide Centre.
Bleachers will be sanitized between matches, and fans must exit the facility immediately following the match. All spectators will be screened and receive a temperature check before being allowed to enter the facility.
Ticket prices for the tournament are as follows:
$10 – Adults
$5 – Students (w/ College ID)
$5 – Senior (65+)
$5 – Youth (6+)
FREE: Children Five and under.
The Flyers (16-1) look to bounce back on Friday after having its 16-match winning streak snapped in the regular season finale last Saturday by No. 21 Southern Indiana at Neil Carey Arena.
Amanda Greening (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) led Lewis with 13 kills in the contest while
Megan Schlechte (Strasburg, Ill./Stewardson-Strasburg) finished with 12 kills.
Caroline Stefanon (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg) had nine kills and four blocks.
The Flyers defeated the Bulldogs (10-9) in straight sets back on Feb. 28 at Kirksville, Mo. Greening and Venema led the way for Lewis in that contest recording 10 kills apiece while Stefanon finished with seven kills and five blocks. Schlechte had a team-high 20 digs in the contest.
Friday's contest marks the third time that the two teams have met in the GLVC Tournament with each side winning a match. TSU defeated Lewis in five sets in the semifinal round of the 2016 GLVC Tournament while the Flyers got the better of the Bulldogs in 2018 winning in four sets in the quarterfinals.
The winner of Friday's match will take on the winner of the match between fifth seeded Missouri S&T and fourth seeded Quincy on Saturday (April 17) at 5:30 p.m. at the EastSide Centre.
