Bracey, Jines And Zahler Record Hat Trick In Lewis Women’s Lacrosse 14-5 Win Over Quincy

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- Lewis University women's lacrosse team got hat tricks from Paige Bracey (Apex, N.C./Apex), Alyson Jines (Temecula, Calif./Temecula Valley High School) and Paige Zahler (Verona, Wis./Verona) in its 14-5 win over Quincy on Friday afternoon at Lewis Stadium. The Flyers improve to 3-6, 1-3 GLVC while the Hawks fall to 2-6, 0-3 GLVC.

Lewis dominated the first 15-plus minutes of the contest scoring the first nine goals of the game. Bracey and Jines had two goals each in that spurt while Zahler, Skylar Lucich (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein), Lindsey Traub (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard High School), Emily Meredith (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) and Meltonique Bowen (Pembroke Pines, Fla./Flanagan) had a goal apiece.

Quincy got on the board late in the first half as Danielle Robinson scored with an assist from Bianca Johnson.

The Flyers outshot the Hawks 17-11 in the first 30 minutes including 14-6 in shots on goal.

The two sides traded goals to open the second half, but Lewis scored the next three goals to take its largest lead of the contest at 13-2 on Jines third of the game.

Quincy got back-to-back goals from Heaven-Lee Nichols and Robinson to cut the score to 13-4.

Zahler capped the scoring for the Flyers with her third goal of the contest with 6:13 remaining in the contest.

Nichols added her second goal of the game with 2:36 to play for the final margin.

Lewis had a 30-22 advantage in shots in the contest and 24-11 in shots on goal. Bowen and Katelyn Kuzmanko (West Olive, Mich./West Ottawa High School) scooped up five ground balls apiece for the Flyers. Zahler and Bowen won three draw controls each. Brigid Fornek (Lawrenceville, Ga./Grayson) picked up the win making six saves and scooped up three ground balls.

The Flyers are back at home on Sunday hosting Maryville at noon at Lewis Stadium.
