EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Lewis University's baseball team dropped a pair of one run contests at Southern Indiana, 4-3 and 8-7 on Saturday afternoon at the USI Baseball Field in Evansville, Ind. The Flyers drop to 15-12, 13-10 GLVC while the Screaming Eagles move to 18-13, 14-9 GLVC.
USI struck first in the opening game of the twinbill scoring twice in the second inning on Bryce Krizan's two out two-run double to left scoring Wyatt Daly and Kobe Stevens. The Screaming Eagles added to their lead in the sixth on as Gavin McLarty doubled to right center driving in Manny Lopez.
Lewis rattled the bats in its final at-bat scoring three runs on only hit in the frame. They loaded the bases with two outs in the frame thanks to a walk and back-to-back hit by pitches.
Anthony Cavalieri (Western Springs, Ill./Fenwick) cleared the bases driving in all three runners with a double to right center. Cavalieri would advance to third on a wild pitch but was left stranded there.
USI won the game in the bottom of the frame as Ethan Hunter hit a walk-off home run to left center.
Cavalieri led the Flyer attack in the opener recording two of the six hits while
Jackson Dvorak (New Lenox, Ill./Providence Catholic),
Julian Everett (Frankfort, Ill/Lincoln Way East),
Kevin Barry (Bartlett, Ill./South Elgin) and
Max Warren (Yorkville, Ill./Yorkville) had a hit apiece.
Jake Karaba (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) suffered the loss allowing four runs, three earned on six hits with nine strikeouts to fall to 4-1 on the season.
In the nightcap, Lewis tallied single runs in the second and fourth innings to take a 2-0 lead halfway through. Dvorak led off the second inning with a double, stole third and scored on Barry's single to first.
Barry drove in his second run of three runs driven in the contest in the fourth as he doubled right center scoring

The Screaming Eagles got single tallies in the fourth and fifth innings to tie the game but the Flyers regained the lead in the sixth on
Troy Hajdukovic's (Palatine, Ill./Fremd) double to right center scoring Rios and Barry.
Lewis tacked on three insurance runs in the seventh as Everett walked with the bases loaded to make it 5-2. Rios reached on a fielding error by the pitcher to plate another run and the final run scored on Barry's single to right.
It wouldn't be enough though as USI scored six times in the bottom of the seventh to walk it off as Hunter scored on a wild pitch to end it.
The Flyers outhit the Eagles 9-7 in the contest with Barry going 3-for-3 while
Joe Preusser (Orland Park, Ill./Brother Rice) had two hits.
Michael Sclafani (Oak Brook, Ill./Montini Catholic) got the start in game two allowing two runs on three hits in 4.1 innings pitched.
Jake Lotz (Palos Hills, Ill./St. Laurence) took the loss allowing two runs, one earned, on two hits in 0.1 innings pitched to fall to 0-3.
Lewis and USI wrap up their four-game series on Sunday with a single nine inning game beginning at 12 p.m.
