ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University's men's lacrosse team battled ninth ranked Lindenwood but came up on the short end falling 11-8 on Saturday afternoon at Lewis Stadium. The Flyers fall to 3-7 overall and in the GLVC while the Lions move to 8-1, 8-1 GLVC.
Lindenwood scoring three goals in the first five-plus minutes including two just 70 seconds into the contest.
Lewis got on the board with 8:55 remaining in the opening quarter as 
Drew Kask (Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada/Dr. Charles Best Secondary School) scored his 10th of the season with an assist from 
Luke Ory (Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada/Nanaimo District Secondary School).
The Lions scored twice in less than a minute to grab its largest advantage of the quarter at 5-1 as Andrew Hosz and Cole Trullender each scored.
Keith Parkman II (San Diego, Calif./Serra) scored his first goal of the season with 4:37 left in the stanza with an assist from 
Drew Andre (Pitt Meadows, British Columbia, Canada/Pitt Meadows Secondary School).
Cam Smith gave Lindenwood its four-goal advantage back with 1:25 left in the quarter but Andre cut the deficit to three by the end of the quarter as he scored in the closing seconds.
The Flyers cut the lead to 6-4 as 
Thomas Purfeerst (Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount) scored the first goal of the second quarter but the Lions got back-to-back goals from Rob Tucker and Peter Covington to take an 8-4 lead at the half.
Parkman II scored his second goal of the contest late in the third quarter to trim the Lion lead to 8-5 but goals from Covington and Nolan Corker gave Lindenwood a 10-5 lead heading into the final 15 minutes.
Lewis scored three straight goals in the first six minutes of the final stanza to cut the lead to two but couldn't get any closer as Hosz added an insurance goal halfway through the frame for the final margin.
Lindenwood outshot the Flyers 53-28 in the contest and 31-19 in shots on goal. 
Josh Calvin (Scottsdale, Ariz./Notre Dame College Prepatory HS) made 21 saves in goal for Lewis. Parkman II led the way for Lewis scoring three goals while Purfeerst added two.
Xan Brouillet (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) scooped up six ground balls and 
Soren Thrawl (Eagan, Minn./Eagan) caused two turnovers.
Lewis plays its final road game of the regular season on Wednesday (April 21) at Davenport beginning at 3 p.m. (CST).
