ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University's softball team split its doubleheader at Lindenwood on Saturday afternoon winning the opener 1-0 and dropping the nightcap 8-0 in five innings. The Flyers are 13-10, 6-6 GLVC while the Lions are 17-5-1, 10-4 GLVC.

Game 1 – Lewis 1, Lindenwood 0
Lewis won a pitcher's duel in the opener as Katie David (Mapleton, Ill./Illini Bluffs) outdueled Stormee Galka to improve to 6-4 on the season. She allowed just two hits in the contest while striking out three and walking three. Galka gave up nine hits in the contest but allowed an unearned run in the third inning and had eight strikeouts.

The Flyers got a lead-off double from Jessica Lofthouse (Oswego, Ill./Oswego) in the third inning and she advanced to a third on a groundout from Kristin Kavalauskas (Oak Forest, Ill./Tinley Park). Lofthouse would score on an error by the first baseman.

Lewis had opportunities to addon to its lead but couldn't get the key hit with runners in scoring position.

The Lions threatened with two outs in the sixth getting a walk and an infield single but David got a pop out to Lofthouse to end the threat.

David then set out down Lindenwood in order in the seventh.

Game 2 – Lindenwood 8, Lewis 0 5 innings
The Lions scored four runs in the home half of the first in the nightcap to take the early lead. Morgan Gersch had the big hit in the inning driving in two with a double.

Lindenwood added two more in the second on Karli Goocher's two-run double to center. The Lions tacked on single runs in the fourth and fifth innings.

Amanda Weyh silenced the Lewis sticks as she threw a perfect game retiring all 15 hitters she faced on 57 pitches.

Sara Serena (Kankakee, Ill./Kankakee) took the loss allowing six runs on six hits with a pair of strikeouts and two walks in two innings pitched.

The Flyers return to the diamond on Tuesday (April 6) as they head to Somers, Wis., to take on Parkside in a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
