ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University's women's tennis team dropped its GLVC opener to top ranked Indianapolis, 7-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Jack Oremus Tennis Complex in Romeoville, Ill.

The Greyhounds (11-0, 1-0 GLVC) won all three doubles matches to take the opening point of the match. Nikol Alekseeva and Anna Novikova defeated the Flyers (5-3, 0-1 GLVC) team of Rita Pedroso (Porto, Portugal/Escola Secundaria Garcia de Orta) and Casey Smith (Portage, Mich./Portage Central) at No. 1 doubles 6-1. At No. 2 doubles it was Alina Kislitskaya and Kristina Lagda beating Joie Reisch (La Grange Highlands, Ill./Lyons Township) and Sophie Davis (Mokena, Ill./Providence Catholic) 6-4. In the final doubles match, Sofia Sharonova and Maria Solynshkina beat Jovana Vujanic (Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove) and Grace Sueflohn (Delafield, Wis./KM Global Charter School) 7-5.

In singles play, Novikova defeated Pedroso 7-5, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, Lagda beat Smith 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2 singles, Solnyshkina knocked off Vujanic 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) at No. 3 singles, Reisch fell to Sharonova 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4 singles, Sueflohn lost to Anna Valiaeva 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5 singles and Davis was defeated by Lorraine Lissmann 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.

Lewis returns to the courts on Friday (April 9) hosting McKendree at 2 p.m. at the Oremus Tennis Complex.
