Bullseye: Flyers Hit Mark In 18-4 Win At Ursuline

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University's women's lacrosse was on target in its 18-4 win at Ursuline on Wednesday morning in Pepper Pike, Ohio. The Flyers improve to 2-4 while the Arrows drop to 1-3.

Lewis came out firing scoring six goals in the first 13-plus minutes of the game to take the early advantage. Skylar Lucich (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) and Paige Zahler (Verona, Wis./Verona) each scored twice while Sydney Able (Aurora, Colo./Regis Jesuit) and Meltonique Bowen (Pembroke Pines, Fla./Flanagan) added a goal each.

Ursuline cut the lead to 6-1 on a goal from Jillian Guiles with exactly 12 minutes to play in the first half but that was the closest they got as the Flyers added five more goals in the final 11:31 of the frame to take an 11-1 lead into halftime. Emily Meredith (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) scored twice in that run while Lucich added her third, Bowen picked up her second goal and Lindsey Traub (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard High School) scored right near the end of the half.

Lewis scored four of the first five goals of the second half to extend its lead to 15-2 with Bowen scoring twice while Zahler and Able had a goal each. Meredith added two more goals late in the game and Traub picked up her second of the contest to complete the scoring for the Flyers.

Lewis outshot the Arrows 38-15 in the contest and 28-11 in shots on goal. Bowen and Meredith led the way with four goals apiece while Zahler and Lucich had three each and Traub and Able had two apiece. Brigid Fornek (Lawrenceville, Ga./Grayson) made four saves in the contest while Faith Engle (Marysville, OH/Marysville High School) stopped three shots. Traub scooped up three ground balls while Bowen won eight draw controls.

The Flyers are back in action on Friday evening as they head to Kansas City to take on Rockhurst at 6 p.m.
