AURORA, Ill. - The Lewis University men's tennis team defeated McKendree 4-3 Friday (April 9) at Vaughan Tennis Center in a Great Lakes Valley Conference meet. The Flyers move to 6-5 overall, 1-1 in the GLVC, while the Bearcats fall to 4-3, 1-1 in the GLVC.

Lewis swept doubles, with wins going to
Juan Martin Ramirez Mejia (Medellin, Colombia) and
David Ambrozic (Portoroz, Slovenia/) 6-1 at No. 1 over Vishnu Prasad and Subash Paramasivan,
Pedja Trifunovic (Aleksandrovac, Serbia/) and
Oskar Lusti (Tallinn, Estonia/) 7-5 over Leonardo Frederico and Ryan Fung at No. 2 and
Jonathan Maghirang (Woodridge, Ill./) and
Daniel Sowa (Cary, Ill./Cary-Grove) 7-6 over Julappagari Reddy and Santiago Tintore at No. 3.

Lusti, who won 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (7-3) at No. 2 singles over Prasad, ended up being the deciding match in the final match finished for the day.

Also earning wins in singles for the Flyers were Ambrozic at No. 3 singles, who defeated Paramasivan 6-3, 6-1 and Trifunovic, who beat Reddy 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.

The Flyers are back in action at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Five Star Tennis Center in Plainfield against Illinois Springfield.
