BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Lewis University's women's swimming team dropped a pair of duals at Olivet Nazarene on Saturday afternoon in Bourbonnais, Ill. The Flyers fell to the host Tigers 173-101 and to Davenport 167-110.
Lewis opened the tri-meet winning the first event as the quartet of
Larissa Alves (Panama/),
Erin Bachmeier (Savage, Minn./Burnsville),
Cetta Senese (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) and
Madi Heckman (Lawrence, Kan./Lawrence) won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:51.12 while the Flyer foursome of
Julia Lesnicki (Lemont, Ill./Lemont),
Melanie Patterson (Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley),
Megan O'Brien (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic Academy) and
Benita Varanauskaite (Schaumburg, Ill./Hoffman Estates) finished sixth in a time of 1:59.70.
Kiara Barnes (Cape Town, South Africa/) and
Maria Rodriguez (Seville, Spain/San Francisco de Paula) finished second and fifth respectively in the 1650 freestyle with times of 18:26.44 and 19:22.96.
Lewis had three of the top five finishers in the 200 free with Alves taking second at 1:59.47 while Varanauskaite was fourth in a time of 2:06.00 and Bandy finished fifth with a time of 2:07.43.
Rachel Marsh (Houston, Texas/Mirabeau B. Lamar) was the Flyers top finisher in the 100 backstroke finishing fifth in a time of 1:04.47 while
Maddy Wagner (Hickman, Neb./Norris) took eighth with a time of 1:06.32 and Barnes was ninth at 1:06.39.
Bachmeier took second in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:07.03 while Patterson finished sixth at 1:11.31 and
Orla Clasby (New Paltz, N.Y./New Paltz) was seventh at 1:11.92.
Aubrey Fischer (Lawrence, Kan./Lawrence) and O'Brien finished fourth and fifth in the 200 fly with times of 2:21.46 and 2:22.73 respectively.
Bachmeier was third in the 50 free at 25:59 while Heckman finished sixth in a time of 26.14.
Jenna Cipriani (Oak Lawn, Ill./Oak Lawn) finished fourth in the one-meter diving competition scoring 218.75 points.
Varnauskaite, Fischer and
Meghan Bandy (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon) were eighth, ninth and 10th in the 100 free with times of 57.90 seconds, 57.93 seconds and 58.63 seconds respectively.
Alves, Wagner and Lesnicki finished fourth, sixth and ninth in the 200 yard back in times of 2:15.90, 2:21.95 and 2:26.43.
The Flyers had three swimmers finish in the top six of the 200 breaststroke with Senese taking fourth at 2:33.03 while Clasby and Heckman were close behind in fifth and sixth with times of 2:37.03 and 2:37.70.
Barnes, Rodriguez and O'Brien were second, fifth and seventh in the 500 free. Barnes touched the wall at 5:28.59 while Rodriguez came in at 5:45.16 and O'Brien finished at 5:49.58.
Senese, Fischer and Bandy were third, fourth and eighth in the 100 fly. Senese finished with a time of 1:01.63 while Fischer came in at 1:02.72 and Bandy finished at 1:08.12.
Clasby and Lesnicki took seventh and eighth in the 200 individual medley with times of 2:26.49 and 2:27.60 respectively.
Lewis' foursome of Bachmeier, Fischer, Heckman and Varanauskaite were fourth in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:43.76 while the squad of Bandy, Wagner, Senese and Marsh took sixth at 1:48.27.
The Flyers return to the pool next Saturday hosting St. Ambrose and Maryville at 1 p.m. at the Lewis Swimming Pool.
