Women's Soccer Records 5th Straight Victory; Defeats Southwest Baptist Friday

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Lewis University women's soccer team beat Southwest Baptist 2-0 in a Great Lakes Valley Conference contest Friday (Oct. 14) at Lewis Stadium. Senior Cameron Sengstock (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake South) led the Flyers with two goals scored in the second half to help Lewis notch its eighth win of the season.

HALF BREAKDOWN

  • Sengstock looked to take the early lead in the fourth minute but her shot was saved.
  • While Sengstock attempted to score on three separate occasions in the first half, Milazzo, Aguilar and Morgan Krupp (New Baltimore, Mich./Anchor Bay High School) all took shots at the goal but those shots were saved as well.
  • At the 28th minute, the Bearcats got a shot towards the goal in attempt to score but it was off target.
  • Both teams were held scoreless at the halftime break as Lewis attempted eight more shots than Southwest Baptist.
Second Half: Lewis 2, Southwest Baptist 0
  • The Flyers got shots on goal from Kenedi Jones (Cary, Ill./Cary-Grove) and Melisa Hadvic early in the half before Sengstock managed to score the first goal of the game at the 52:21 mark.
  • Aguilar recorded three shots at the goal over the next 10 minutes, attempting to extend the Flyers lead.
  • Moments later at the 64:13 mark, Sengstock was able to break through again and score the second goal of the contest for Lewis.
  • Southwest Baptist attempted two shots, neither of which were close to a score, alleviating Nielsen from having to make a save in her 90 minutes of play.
