HAMMOND, Ind. -- The Lewis University women's volleyball team took a pair of games at the Midwest Region Crossover Tournament at the Hammond Sportsplex Friday. The Flyers came back from down 2-0 and won three straight to defeat Hillsdale then swept Grand Valley State in three sets.

SET BREAKDOWN
FIRST SET: Hillsdale 25, Lewis 16
- Hillsdale scored the first three points of the first set to go up 3-0.
- The Chargers were up 11-7 before rallying for three straight points.
- Lewis would score the ensuing point after a kill by Van Loo but HC scored seven points in a row to grab a 18-8 lead.
- Hillsdale went on to win the first set 25-16.
SECOND SET: Hillsdale 25, Lewis 19
- The Chargers went up 6-1 early in the second set before Lewis scored four in a row after kills by Taki, Ray and Van Loo.
- Hillsdale was ahead 14-8 before the Flyers scored four in a row capped off by a kill by Schlechte.
- HC went on another rally to put away the set after going ahead 20-13.
- The closest Lewis got was 23-18 after a kill by Ray but Hillsdale ended up winning 25-19.
THIRD SET: Lewis 25, Hillsdale 18
- Both teams each scored four points each to make it 4-all.
- Lewis scored four straight capped off by a kill by Stefanski to make it 8-4.
- Hillsdale scored the ensuing point then the Flyers scored five straight to make it 13-5.
- Lewis kept their hopes alive after taking the third set 25-18 after a block by Schlechte and Taki.
FOURTH SET: Lewis 25, Hillsdale 19
- Both teams scored seven points each to make it 7-7 in the early going.
- Lewis then went up 12-8 before the Chargers went on a 6-1 rally to go up 14-13.
- Hillsdale was up 16-15 midway through the fourth set before Lewis scored six in a row to make it 21-16.
- Lewis would hang on to win the fourth set 25-19 and force a winner-take-all fifth set.
FIFTH SET: Lewis 15, Hillsdale 11
- Lewis had the advantage early going ahead 4-1 by a block by Taki.
- Hillsdale would make it as close as 9-8 Flyers but Lewis was able to put them away.
- Zeiser ended the fifth set with a service ace which gave Lewis the 3-2 victory.
Final Score: Lewis 3, Hillsdale 2

FIRST SET: Lewis 25, Grand Valley State 19
- Lewis went up 7-0 early after a kill by Stefanski.
- GVSU tried to crawl back in the match and made it down to 12-9 in favor of Lewis.
- The Flyers had another rally in them after Stenman recorded a kill which made it 20-12 in favor of the Flyers.
- Lewis ended up winning the first set 25-19.
SECOND SET: Lewis 25, Grand Valley State 23
- Both teams scored four points each to make it 4-4 then Ray recorded three straight kills to make it 7-4.
- Van Loo and Taki recorded a block to extend the Flyer lead out to 15-9 before the Lakers scored five in row to make it 15-14 in favor of Lewis.
- Grand Valley would grab a 20-17 lead late in the second set then a kill by Stefanski capped off five straight for Lewis to make it 22-20.
- The Flyers went on to clinch the second set 25-23 to grab a commanding 2-0 set lead.
THIRD SET: Lewis 26, Grand Valley State 24
- Both teams would score five points each to start the third set which made it 5-5 in the early going.
- GVSU rallied for four straight points which gave the Lakers an 9-5 advantage.
- Lewis cut it down to 12-11 before Grand Valley scored five straight to make it 17-11.
- The Flyers would eventually use a rally to grab a 21-19 lead late in the set.
- GVSU kept it close throughout but Lewis was able to hang on for the 26-24 set victory to give them a 3-0 win.
Final Score: Lewis 3, Grand Valley State 0
