Lewis Women’s Soccer Draws Against Drury Sunday

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Lewis University women's soccer team tied with Drury in a Great Lakes Valley Conference contest Sunday (Oct. 23) at Harrison Stadium. The Flyers were unable to convert one of its three shots on goal against the Panthers.

HALF BREAKDOWN
First Half: Lewis 0, Drury 0

  • Neither team was able to score a goal but Lewis attempted eight shots in the first half while Drury attempted nine. 
  • Drury went on the attack in the fifth minute, attempting two shots but both were off target.
  • Sengstock had the first opportunity to score for the Flyers at the 9:22 mark but was wide left.
  • Lewis had another scoring opportunity three minutes later at the 12:03 mark but that shot was wide right.
  • Lewis' Bekah Nielsen (Normal, Ill./Heartland Community College) and Drury's Knetzke Kaitlin each had one save in the first period.

Second Half: Lewis 0, Drury 0

  • Neither team managed to break the barrier and score a goal in the contest but both put shots up as Lewis attempted five shots in the second half while Drury attempted nine.
  • Nielsen had one of her five second half saves for the Flyers less than six minutes into the second period.
  • Six minutes later, Sengstock tried to score the first goal of the game but it was blocked.
  • The Flyers last shot attempt came at the 76:30 mark but no avail as Barenbaum missed her shot wide right.
  • Drury attempted four shots within the last eight minutes of action, one of which was saved by Nielsen.
  • Sengstock led Lewis with three shot attempts at the goal while Faith Lewis (Corunna, Ind./DeKalb) and Barenbaum had two apiece.
  • The Panthers' goalkeeper Kaitlin recorded two saves in the second period.
