HALF BREAKDOWN
First Half: Lewis 1, William Jewell 1
  • The Lewis offense came out ready to play and tested William Jewell goalkeeper Jose Arellano early with four shots in the first 15:42 with three being on goal, all of which Arellano saved.
  • The Flyers were called for a foul inside their own penalty area at the 19:02 mark of the stanza.
  • William Jewell's Cole Bulgren stepped up to the spot and gave the Cardinals a 1-0 lead when his shot got by Rueda.
  • The lead was short lived as the Flyers continued to put pressure on the Cardinals' defensive unit, forcing a corner kick that was taken by Seth Dilworth (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West).
  • Dilworth's corner kick was too high for one Lewis player to head into the goal, but Gorodnickis was able to get enough of the ball to deflect it into the back of the net for a 1-1 tie at the 21:50 mark of the half.
  • Lewis would tack on three more shots on goals, but Arellano made each save.
Second Half: Lewis 1, William Jewell 0
  • Lewis would take its first lead of the match at the 63:41 mark of the second half.
  • Asore took an outlet pass up the left side and dribbled the ball until just outside the left side of the box the since entry pass was tapped from Gorodnickis to Shkidchenko.
  • Shkidchenko deposited the pass from Gorodnickis into the upper right corner past Arellano for the 2-1 lead.
  • The Lewis defensive corps stepped up and protected the box the rest of the way and allowed just three shots over the final 21 minutes with only one on goal.
Final Score: Lewis 2, William Jewell 1
