No. 20 Lewis Women's Volleyball Returns Home To Sweep Truman State

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The No. 20 Lewis University women's volleyball team swept Truman State 3-0 Friday (Oct. 7) in a Great Lakes Valley Conference contest at Neil Carey Arena.

SET BREAKDOWN
FIRST SET: No. 20 Lewis 25, Lewis 13

  • Five straight points gave the Flyers a 6-3 lead as three different Flyers recorded kills.
  • The Bulldogs cut the lead to 9-7, but five more in a row from Lewis built the lead to 14-7, thanks to a pair of kills from Stefanski.
  • After a Truman point, six more in a row from Lewis made it an 11-1 run all together as Ray tallied two kills in the run.
  • Van Loo recorded the final two kills of the set.

SECOND SET: No. 20 Lewis 26, Truman State 24

  • Lewis opened up with a 6-3 lead after three consecutive kills.
  • Truman tied the score at 16-16 on a kill.
  • The Bulldogs took a 20-19 lead, but the Flyers came right back to lead 21-20 on a Stefanski ace.
  • The two teams traded leads again before the Flyers scored the final two points on a Van Loo kill and an ace from Schlechte.

THIRD SET: No. 20 Lewis 25, Truman State 10

  • The Flyers jumped out to a 13-4 advantage as Schlechte had three early kills.
  • Lewis extended its lead to 21-8 as Ray picked up her third and fourth kills of the set and Schlechte added her fourth kill of the set.

Final Score: No. 20 Lewis 3, Truman State 0
