HOUGHTON, Mich. -- The Lewis University men's basketball team dropped a non-conference tilt to Northern Michigan, 73-60, in the GLVC/GLIAC Crossover on the campus of Michigan Tech Sunday.

SUMMARY
Northern Michigan jumped out to an early 7-2 lead in the first four minutes. Back-to-back baskets by
Beau Frericks (Cary, Ill./Cary Grove) and Sahinkaya cut it down to one.
Both teams traded leads the next five minutes before
Terry Ford (Toledo, Ohio/Mineral Area JC) made back-to-back layups to give Lewis a 20-16 lead. NMU responded right away with six points in a row to grab a 22-20 lead.
Vanderheydt looked to carry momentum into the halftime break as he hit a three pointer with seven seconds left. The score was tied 36-all going into the break.
Vanderheydt converted an and-one play with 15:40 to go in the game giving Lewis a 43-41 lead. Both teams would trade leads and ties for the next few minutes.
The Wildcats and Flyers were tied at 51-all with 10:42 to go then NMU scored seven straight the next two minutes which gave them a 58-51 lead with eight minutes left. Hill tried to get Lewis back in the game after making a three-pointer but the Wildcats had another response.
NMU jumped out to a 69-56 lead with 3:27 to go in the contest. The Wildcats ended up coming out on top 73-60.
