ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Lewis University men's basketball team picked up its second win of the season with a 69-65 win over Cedarville on Saturday afternoon at Neil Carey Arena. The Flyers relinquished a 16-point lead in the second half but managed to hold the Yellow Jackets scoreless within the final 2 and a half minutes to seal the win.

SUMMARY
Lewis and Cedarville traded baskets and the lead throughout the first 10 minutes of the game. With the scored tied at 14, Lewis went on a 10-2 run with the help of five quick points from
Colin Kenney (Michigan City, Ind./Furman).
The Yellow Jackets answered back with an 8-0 run, including back-to-back threes from Jayvon Maughmer to tie the game at 24. The Flyers scored seven of the final nine points in the first half, taking a 5-point lead into intermission.
Lewis had shot 42.9 percent (12-of-28) from the field and 3-for-6 from behind the arc.
To start the second half, Lewis extended its lead to 10 after two minutes of play, thanks to a 3-pointer from Frericks and a layup by
Jamere Hill (Joliet, Ill./Toledo). Four minutes later, Sayles canned back-to-back 3-pointers from the left wing to extend the Flyers lead to 16.
With 12 minutes remaining in the second half at the second media timeout Lewis had an 18-point lead. Cedarville began knocking down their threes after hitting back-to-back to cut it down to 12.
With eight minutes left, Ethan Sellars nailed a 3-pointer and shortly after, Maughmer made back-to-back layups to cut the Flyers lead to five. Sellars would make another 3-pointer with 5:10 remaining in the game before Lewis was forced to call a timeout.
Lewis was able to score a layup immediately after the timeout, but Cedarville's Grant Whisman made a shot from behind the arc to give the Yellow Jackets their first lead since the 13:49 mark in the first half. Lewis answered right back with two three pointers to help the Flyers regain the lead with less than three minutes remaining.
Maughmer of Cedarville managed to nail another three, his fifth of the evening, but that would be the end to the Yellow Jackets offense. Cedarville did not make a basket in the final two minutes of the game.
Lewis shot 41.7 percent (25-of-60) from the field and 8-for-21 (38 percent) from three.
