ASHLAND, Ohio -- The Lewis University women's basketball team suffered a setback against the No. 5 team in the nation Ashland, 83-65, at Kates Gymnasium, Saturday (Nov. 19).

SUMMARY
Ashland jumped out to an early 12-0 lead before Hart made a layup to end the early run. The Eagles would go on to score the next seven points to go up 19-2.
Badali and Lindsay Harrison (Yorkville, Ill./Yorkville) made back-to-back buckets to try to get back into the contest. Ashland led 25-8 after the first quarter after the Eagles shot 59 percent from the floor.
The Eagles scored the first seven points of the second quarter to go up 32-8 before Schmidt ended the run with a layup and a three-pointer to make it 32-13 in favor of the Eagles. Lewis tried to carry some momentum into halftime as Badali hit a three-pointer and Tara Gugliuzza (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way West) made a bucket which made it 39-25 but Ashland got one back right before the buzzer.
Lily Courier (LaGrange, Ill./Lyons Township) scored first to open the second half then Ashland responded with one of their own before Lewis recorded six straight points to make it 43-33 in favor of the Eagles. Moments later, Lewis cut it down to 12 (52-40) with 2:43 to play in the third but AU outscored Lewis 8-2 the reminder of the quarter to go up 60-42.
Shawnton Brown (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Central) hit a three-pointer to start the scoring in the fourth quarter to cut it back down to 15 but Ashland had the response right away. The Eagles came out on top 83-65.
The Flyers shot 45 percent (27-60) from the floor and 33% (6-18) from three-point land. The Eagles shot 51 percent (32-63) from the floor and 38% (13-34) from three.
Lewis out rebounded Ashland 35-29.
