ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Lewis University men's basketball team dropped its first game at home this season to William Jewell in a Great Lakes Valley Conference contest, 76-60, on Saturday afternoon.

SUMMARY
Both teams traded points to start the game before Lewis went on a 5-0 run to take an early six point lead at 13-7. The Flyers took full advantage of the Cardinals turnovers as Terry Ford (Toledo, Ohio/Mineral Area JC) canned a 3-pointer and Frericks nailed a pull up jump shot.
Lewis was ahead 15-9 then William Jewell answered back with a 8-0 run to grab a 17-15 lead with 8:36 left in the first half. Moments later, the Cardinals went on another run to go up 30-21 with under four minutes left
Zrnic was able to respond the Cardinals run before WJC bounced back with back-to-back buckets which expanded the lead to 34-23. William Jewell went into the half-time break ahead 36-27.
William Jewell jumped out to a 47-31 lead to start the second half. Lewis tried to respond but the Cardinals were one step ahead of the Flyers.
William Jewell was able to expand the lead to 23 with six minutes to play before the Hill sunk back-to-back 3-pointers. Hill would also make two free throws while Zrnic made a contested layup to take the lead back down to 15 (68-53) with under minutes to go.
The Flyers were able to get the lead to as low as 11 with a 1:13 left but William Jewell came away with the 76-60 victory.
