LAKEWOOD, Ohio – The Lewis University men's tennis team fell to Tiffin 5-2 Saturday (Feb. 26) in a nonconference contest at Lakewood Racquet Club. The Flyers fall to 4-2 on the season, while Tiffin advances to 7-5.
In doubles the Flyers earned a win from the No. 2 tandem of
Oskar Lusti (Tallinn, Estonia/) and
Pedja Trifunovic (Aleksandrovac, Serbia/). The duo defeated Matthew Telford and Cyrille Colomb 6-4. The No. 1 doubles team of
Juan Martin Ramirez Mejia (Medellin, Colombia/) and
David Ambrozic (Portoroz, Slovenia/) fell to Ruben Fonga and Matthew Weaver 6-2, while the No. 3 team of
Andrej Zoranovic (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada) and
Oliwer Wierzbicki (Szczecin, Poland) lost to Michael Gurtner and Daniel Martinez Roca 6-3.
In singles, Ramirez Mejia won at the No. 1 spot 7-5, 1-1, retired over Michael Gurtner. Lusti fell 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 to Fonga, Ambrozic won 7-5, 6-4 at No. 3 to Telford, Trifunovic fell 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 at No. 4 to Weaver, Wierzbicki lost 7-6, 7-5 at No. 5 and Zoranovic fell 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 to Colomb, at No. 6 to Martinez Roca.
Lewis returns to the courts March 7 when it faces West Liberty in Hilton Head, South Carolina at 4 p.m.
