LAKEWOOD, Ohio – The Lewis University women's tennis team fell to Tiffin 6-1 Saturday (Feb. 26) in a nonconference contest at Lakewood Racquet Club. The Flyers drop to 4-2 on the season, while Tiffin moves to 9-1.
In doubles the point went to Tiffin as it won at No. 1 doubles and No. 3 doubles.
Casey Smith (Portage, Mich./Portage Central) and
Anastasiya Salenko (Kyiv, Ukraine) fell at the No. 1 spot for the Flyers to Anaelle Lepinay and Allessandra Maganuco 6-4, while
Sage Hills (Bloomingdale, Ill./Glenbard North) and
Grace Sueflohn (Delafield, Wis./KM Global Charter School) lost 6-2 at No. 3 to Shea Foster and Jessica Peace.
In singles, Lewis picked up a win from Salenko at the No. 1 spot as she defeated Carina Avram 6-3, 6-7, 6-1.
Nefeli Zafeiri (Greece) fell at No. 2 6-2, 6-2 to Emily Barrett, Smith lost at No. 3 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 to Emily Young,
Jovana Vujanic (Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove) lost 7-5, 6-1 at No. 4 to Lepinay,
Joie Reisch (La Grange Highlands, Ill./Lyons Township) retired at No. 5 after winning the first set 7-6 over Maganuco and Hills lost 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6 to Peace.
Lewis is back in action March 6 when it faces Florida Southern at 1:30 p.m. in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
