HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Lewis University men's tennis team defeated Ashland 4-2 Tuesday (March 8) in a nonconference match. The Flyers move to 6-2 on the year, while the Eagles fall to 3-6.

Juan Martin Ramirez Mejia (Medellin, Colombia/) and
David Ambrozic (Portoroz, Slovenia/) beat Stuart Brdicka and Jordan Phelps 6-2, while
Oliwer Wierzbicki (Szczecin, Poland) and
Andrej Zoranovic (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada) defeated Fabian Bussard and Omar Prince 6-3.
Oskar Lusti (Tallinn, Estonia/) and
Pedja Trifunovic (Aleksandrovac, Serbia/) lost 6-3 to William Rassat and Teche Kun Teng
The Flyers added three singles wins to take the match. Ambrozic won 6-2, 6-2 over Phelps at No. 3, Trifunovic beat Kun Teng 6-3, 6-3 at No. 4 and Wierzbicki won 4-6, 6-4, 10-7 over Bussard at No. 5. Lusti fell at No. 2 0-6, 6-0, 10-4 to Rassat, while Zoranovic fell to Prince 7-6, 6-3 at No. 6. The No. 1 singles match between Brdicka and Ramirez Mejia was tied 6-6 in the first set before play stopped.
Lewis continues play on the east coast Wednesday at 7:15 a.m. against Lake Superior State.
