ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University's baseball team dropped the final game of its four-game series against Quincy 18-4 on Sunday afternoon at Brennan Field. The Flyers fall to 10-16-1 overall, 6-6 GLVC while the Hawks improve to 17-13 overall, 8-4 GLVC.
Quincy struck first sending nine batters to the plate and scoring six runs on three hits, two hit-by-pitches and a walk in the top of the first. The inning was highlighted by a grand slam by Nolan Wosman and an RBI double by Brock Boynton.
The Hawks added one in the second, four in the fourth, six in the fifth, and one in the sixth.
Lewis scored three in the third on two hits highlighted by
Thomas Fox's (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Christian) two-run double to left field and
Joe Preusser's (Orland Park, Ill./Brother Rice) RBI ground out to second to score Fox. The Flyers scored their final run in the fifth inning on a wild pitch on
Davey Fitzpatrick's (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) walk.
Lewis was led offensively by Fox, Preusser, and
Michael Alt (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) with a hit apiece. Fox finished with two RBIs while Preusser added one.
Alex Pribyl (2-1) earned the win for the Hawks allowingthree runs on two hits with six strikeouts in four innings pitched.
Jonathon Hanscom (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) (2-3) took the loss for the Flyers giving up seven runs on six hits with one walk, and three hit by pitches in two innings pitched.
Lewis returns to the diamond on Thursday (April 14) as it begins a four-game series against Illinois Springfield at 3 p.m. in Springfield, Ill.
