QUINCY, Ill. – Lewis University's men's lacrosse team snapped its two-game losing skid with a 10-2 win at Quincy on Saturday afternoon at Quincy Stadium in Quincy, Ill. The Flyers improve to 8-5, 2-3 GLVC while the Hawks drop to 4-9, 0-5 GLVC.
The two goals scored by Quincy are the fewest allowed in a single game in Lewis history.
The Flyers jumped out the early lead with two goals midway through the opening stanza.
Xan Brouillet (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) scored the first goal nearly halfway through the period and then
Baden Boyenko (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada/St. Joseph) scored 1:42 later with an assist from
Drew Kask (Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada/Dr. Charles Best Secondary School).
Kask scored 3:39 into the second quarter with an assist from
Evan Clement (San Diego, Calif./Mt. Carmel) to extend the lead to three. The Hawks got on the board at the 8:34 mark of the frame on John Jennings goal from Jayme Brain.
Lewis scored the final goal of the period as
Kai George (New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada/New Westminster Secondary School) scored on the man advantage with 4:20 remaining in the half to give the Flyers a 4-1 lead at the break.
Lewis dominated the third quarter scoring five times.
Drew Andre (Pitt Meadows, British Columbia, Canada/Pitt Meadows Secondary School) scored the first goal of the frame on the man advantage with an assist from
Jack Stone (Eagan, Minn./Eagan) 3:10 into the period. Kask added his second of the game with an assist from Clement at the 7:11 mark.
Ryan Adkins (Saint Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) scored 0:12 later to make it 7-1 and then Stone scored with an assist from Andre for the fourth goal and then Kask scored his third of the game with 0:31 left in the frame with an assist from Boyenko.
Quincy scored a man-up goal with 10:59 left in the contest as Jordan Ernst scored from John Jennings. Stone scored his second goal of the contest with an assist from Boyenko with 7:10 to go to give Lewis its eight-goal lead back.
The Flyers host Maryville next Saturday (April 23) in their final game of the regular season at 3 p.m. at Lewis Stadium.
