AURORA, Ill. - The No. 65 Lewis University men's tennis team defeated Lindenwood 5-2 Saturday (April 16) in a Great Lakes Valley Conference contest at Vaughn Athletic Center. The Flyers advance to 13-6 overall, 3-2 in the GLVC, while the Lions fall to 5-4 overall, 2-2 in the GLVC.
The Flyers earned the doubles point, picking up wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. At No. 2,
Oskar Lusti (Tallinn, Estonia/) and
Pedja Trifunovic (Aleksandrovac, Serbia/) defeated Anton de la Puente and Rodrigo Rattes 7-6 (7-4), while
Oliwer Wierzbicki (Szczecin, Poland) and
Andrej Zoranovic (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada)Â beat Mattis Lamm and Guillaume Teste 6-3. The No. 1 team of
Juan Martin Ramirez Mejia (Medellin, Colombia/) and
David Ambrozic (Portoroz, Slovenia/) fell to Juan Pablo Herrera 6-2.
In singles, Ramirez Mejia fell at No. 1 1-6, 6-3, 6-0 to Herrera, Lusti defeated Francisco Diaz 7-5, 6-3 at No. 2, Ambrozic beat Guillaume 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3, Trifumovic beat de la Puente 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 5-2 at No. 4, Wierzbicki beat Rattes 7-6, 7-5 (9-7) at No. 5 and Zoranovic fell to Juan Balbin 6-1, 6-4 at No. 6.
The Flyers travel to face Grand Valley State Wednesday (April 20) in Allendale, Mich. at 9 a.m.
