GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Lewis University men's tennis team fell to Grand Valley State 6-1 Wednesday (April 20) in a nonconference match at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club. The Flyers fall to 13-7 overall, while the Lakers move to 14-4.
Grand Valley took two of three doubles matches to earn the point. Lewis won the No. 1 doubles match with
David Ambrozic (Portoroz, Slovenia/) and
Juan Martin Ramirez Mejia (Medellin, Colombia/) defeating Josep Canyadell and Sean Miller 7-5. The No. 2 doubles team of
Oskar Lusti (Tallinn, Estonia/) and
Pedja Trifunovic (Aleksandrovac, Serbia/) fell to Sebastian Arce and Freddy Cossio 6-1, while
Oliwer Wierzbicki (Szczecin, Poland) and
Andrej Zoranovic (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada) lost to Jack Dausman and Tomas Oliveira 6-2 at No. 3 doubles.
Ambrozic took home the lone win in singles, defeating Miller 7-6, 6-2 at No. 3. Ramirez Mejia fell at No. 1 6-2, 6-1 to Canyadell, Lusti fell 6-2, 6-1 to Arce, Trifunovic fell 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 to Oliveira, Wierzbicki lost 6-2, 6-1 to Ignacio Morera-Lucas at No. 5 and Zoranovic fell 6-1, 6-4 to Cossio at No. 6.
The Flyers conclude regular season play Friday at 2 p.m. against Southern Indiana at Vaughn Athletic Center in Aurora.
